We are happy to say that our outdoor kitchen is finally finished! We fired up the grill and used it for the first time tonight and it was fantastic! Here are the final pictures:

Outdoor Kitchen Update (Again)

We are getting really close to be able to enjoy our outdoor kitchen! The only thing we are waiting on at this point is the countertops, They should be delivered and installed on Friday of this week! We are absolutely thrilled with the progress and it turned out exactly how we wanted it to look!
Lath and thinset applied (Friday).
Working on the stone (Saturday)

finished the backside on Saturday.
Finished! (minus the countertops!)

Outdoor Kitchen Update III

The outdoor kitchen is coming along nicely; of course it is not coming along fast enough to satisfy me! ;) Plus we’ve managed to spend almost double what I estimated this entire project would cost – go figure! I have received a quote for granite countertops and I have a guy meeting us at the house tomorrow to quote us for making concrete countertops. There is also potential that we have someone that will be here working on the stone over the weekend. Fingers crossed! Anyway, here are some recent pictures from the project (keep scrolling down to see the most updated).

This was the progress on the pergola on Friday:

Monday's progress (finished the pergola and finished framing the bar/cooking area).

Tuesday's progress (finished the bar and started building the frames for the 2 freestanding posts).

We still have a good bit of work left before it will be finished. The electrical needs to be completed to power the ceiling fans and outlets. Obviously the stonework and countertops have not been started yet and we can't install the grill until the very end. I am cautiously optimistic that it will be finished by the end of next week though! I am getting really excited about it especially because of the fantastic weather we have had lately!

Easter Sunday

Although our Sunday morning started out more eventful than I had planned (with Drew's turkey massacre) we were able to get dressed in time and make it to Waynesboro for the Easter Service at FUMC. Needless to say we did not make the sunrise service! The service was fantastic and I have never seen such a large congregation (even on Christmas!). After church we went to my parent’s house for Easter dinner. The food was great and plentiful and we were able to spend time with my parents, grandparents, Justin & Kim (and Parker of course). Parker also experienced his first Easter egg hunt – he’s a pro!

Gobble Gobble

After weeks of Drew waking me up at 5 o'clock in the morning on Saturdays... He finally bagged a Turkey! Congrats Drewbie!

HHI

Drew and I were able to sneak away from work for a few days and enjoy some time away with his parents on Hilton Head Island. We rented a lovely condo right on the beach, it was great! We drove down  to HHI Wednesday after work and met his parents for dinner on the island. Thursday morning Mrs. Cheryl and I treated ourselves to a facial at Faces Salon – it was glorious! We spent most of the day on Thursday enjoying the beautiful weather on the beach. Thursday evening we went to Coligny Plaza and walked around a bit and ate dinner at Steamers (seafood= yuck). It rained most of the morning on Friday and I was able to make a trip to the outlet malls (which were relatively uneventful). Friday evening we drove down to South Beach and ate dinner at the Salty Dog Cafe and enjoyed a few margaritas on the dock as well. We packed up Saturday morning and came back to good ol’ Burke County. We really enjoyed our time away with the McCary gang though!

Swingin'

Saturday night the Swingin'  Medallions were playing at the fairgrounds in Waynesboro. The Drifter and the Tams were there as well. The music was great and so was the company and weather! Drew's parents came as well; we all had a good time (some more than others!)

Outdoor Kitchen Update

On Wednesday of last week the builders made a preliminary frame of the main bar area. This is the area that is going to house the grill. They were unable to work on it anymore after this point until the pergola arrived.
The blue tarp in the background is protecting the stone (it comes in boxes and they said we could return any unopened boxes! Heck yes!)

The pergola was delivered on Thursday, which had to be unloaded off of the semi-truck by hand (fortunately my grandparents came over to give us a hand). Drew and I spent a large majority of the weekend staining the cedar a dark redwood color. Then on Sunday we moved all the wood again from the garage around to the back patio so the builders could start assembling the pergola.  Which has not yet happened as of Tuesday, but hopefully they will be out here on Wednesday ready to work! [Thanks Ansley for the help Sunday!]
All the cedar in the garage before we started staining it.

One of the post; partially stained.

Staining the rafters.
I hope to have more updates on the progress by the end of the week! HOPEFULLY.
