5th Annual Bird Dog Breakaway

Today was Waynesboro's 5th Annual Bird Dog Breakaway 5k. The race started off at the park and circled around the Burkehaven neighborhood. There was a huge turned out and everyone that participated got a free t-shirt (granted they are florescent green and partially blinding to look at). Lori, Kathryn and I signed in at 7:45 and the race started a little after 8. We met up with Caroline too but she walked with the big team Delta pulled together. Earlier this year we participated in the Save-the-Lake 5k and we were the winners of the walkers then. Through a unanimous vote (from the 3 of us) and several disqualifications (also given out by the three of us) - we are pretty sure we were the winners of the walkers again this time! Oddly, they didn't recognize us with a trophy like those dang runners!

Productive Saturday

Last night I ventured up to Drew's man-room to take a look around to see if there was anything he needed for his birthday. Unfortunately it was in such disarray that I couldn't imagine adding anything else to this clutter. So when Drew left this morning for work I took it upon myself to do a little organizing. I'm pretty satisfied with the results but I'm not too confident it will stay like this for long! ... Fingers crossed!

Before:

After!

Parker came for a visit this afternoon and we quickly moved through a few fun activities!
Played on the hay...

Caught and ate bubbles!

Then we got a hold of the water hose!
Drinking from the hose; such a little man now!

Watered the flowers for Aunt Bean.

Bucket-o-water

After stripping himself naked he returned to the bucket for the next 30 minutes or so until
we had to go eat dinner!

--Looking forward to a lazy Sunday. 1st week of the outage officially down. 3-4 more to go.. :(

Outage Week 1

The fall outage officially started back last weekend; poor Drew-baby is having to work 12 hour shifts everyday with the exception of Tuesdays. He leaves the house at 6am and has been getting home a little after 8. What is the worst part about the outage you ask (in my opinion of course)? I have to cook dinner every night and it is HORRIBLE. Since I have a lot of free time on my hands, especially on weekends while Drew is working, one would think that I would be doing something constructive and productive (like writing papers for school) but no, I'm just hanging out and doing semi-fun stuff! Here are some highlights from the past week or so:

I made Sweet and Sour Chicken (a recipe Kristin found on Pinterest). It was amazing but I made such a mess in the process! Here is the recipe for anyone interested: http://madeitateitlovedit.blogspot.com/2012/03/sweet-and-sour-chicken.html
I used Splenda instead of sugar and it still turned out great.

Finished product!                  What a messy process though!

My fun-filled Friday night involved cleaning windows while I waited on Drew to get home. Drew snapped this lovely picture of my weird cleaning habits and my monochromatic outfit when he got home. We tried to watch a movie this night, but we both ended up falling asleep!

Drew sent flowers to work on on Tuesday for no special reason (or he may have been guilted into it; I got flowers and that is all matters!) ;) Tuesday night me and mama met Kim and Parker at the Mexican restaurant in Louisville but I forgot to take a picture. :(
Pretty!

I washed Drew's NASTY truck on Sunday. It took me almost 2 hours just to clean the outside! I did not even attempt to start on the inside. I'm convinced that was the first time it was washed since he bought it 2 years ago! Shameful!

I also baked Drew-baby cookies on Sunday.

I have finished stocking up on deco-mesh for Christmas... Yes, I over did it.. go figure..

Last night I met Kristin and West for dinner at Burke Perk and got Drew something to-go so I did not have to cook anything! Win!

Courtney's Maternity Pictures

On Saturday afternoon our friends Courtney and Bobby came to the house so that I could take maternity pictures before Brigham arrives! Courtney is due in just a couple of weeks! It had stopped raining and the sun came out just a few minutes before they arrived (so you can imagine how muggy it was outside!). They were both good sports about the weather and we had a lot of fun taking the pictures. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Saturday:

We are looking forward to meeting Brigham very soon! Courtney also asked me to come to the hospital and take his newborn pictures when he gets here! So excited!

Parker and the Beach

We took Parker down to Tybee Island for a few hours on Friday for his first beach trip! He was cautious about the water at first but by the time we were ready to leave he was really enjoying himself. He also was a fan of all the pretty girls that were around! Even offering up his sippy cup to a bikini-clad high school gal!
Oh my gosh! The BEACH!!

JUMP!

Being silly with Mommy!
Enjoying his strawberry ice cream!

Sharing his ice cream with his 3rd cousin Max (visiting from NY!).

Quick beach trip for Parker = Success!

Day 5 - Costa Rica

Day 5 in Costa Rica was a sad day for me; I really didn't want to head back to San Jose that afternoon! :( We got up early on the 5th day and went to the National Park. We walked around for a couple hours and hiked several trails. We didn't really see a lot of wildlife, not like we expected to see anyway. It was horribly humid too.. and I thought we had it bad in Georgia - NOPE!  We left early and went to a local restaurant called Marlins and got a few pina coladas before going back to the resort and got a few more!
This is what awaited us at the top of one of the trails. It was pretty but the room from our room wasn't so bad either (and a lot easier to access!)
Standing at the look out spot.

The beach was beautiful!

Tiny bats!

Trail names in the park.

Marlin's = life saver!
Although I was sad to be leaving Manuel Antonio I was THRILLED that our hotel in San Jose had a Denny's next to it. This was by far the best meal we had the entire trip! You would have thought we went a week without eating as fast as we managed to gobble the food down!

We couldn't even wait to eat it for the sake of the picture!
We flew out of San Jose early the next day and landed back in Atlanta a little after 1. We rushed home and relaxed the rest of the day!
Annie + Internet and cell phone! YES!!!!!
